DESIGNED BY / YEAR OF DESIGN Earnest Studio / 2018 ABOUT THE DESIGNER Earnest Studio was founded by American-born, Rotterdam-based designer Rachel Griffin. With a background in graphic design, she spent five years producing exhibitions and books before moving to the Netherlands to study at the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2007. She launched her own studio in 2012, with a focus on furniture, lighting and accessories. CATEGORY Vase ENVIRONMENT Indoor DESCRIPTION Brings a new form to the traditional flower vase through a combination of traditional craftsmanship and a playful design language. Adds a modern touch to any space, even when not in use. Use one or both tubes for flowers. PRODUCTION PROCESS The vase is molded, fired once, then glazed and stamped and then fired a second time. MATERIAL Pigmented porcelain. Glazed on the inside and raw on the outside. CLEANING AND CARE Hand wash only with water or soapy water. The outside of the Kink Vase is raw and should not be cleaned using any object or cloth that can scratch its surface. Only use a wash cloth. Do not use brushes of any kind. Note that vigorous cleaning can damage the finish of the vase over time. Never use chlorine bleach products as it will damage the vase. The design combines this appreciation of modern technology with traditional ceramic craft, resulting in a piece that is both contemporary and sculptural. The graphic and playful appearance of the Kink Vase—combined with its double opening, which suggests a new way to arrange flowers—infuses its surroundings with joy.” K
