Jasper Morrison Taro is a series of solid oak tables created with a strong focus on daily function and use, whether in the kitchen, dining area or meeting room. With machined grooves along its length, the table top resembles a traditional plank table, but has been executed in a refined and knotless selection of oak that will acquire the most beautiful patina. Taro is a series of dining and meeting tables made of solid oak, designed by Jasper Morrison in 2016. Taro has been designed in three sizes to match different environments.With longitudinal machined grooves along the table surface, Taro resembles a traditional plank table. However, even in its longest version, it is made using carefully selected knotless oak and smaller quartersawn staves to create a rustic, yet extremely refined look.In residential spaces and executive meeting rooms, Taro exudes a crafted authority thanks to its inherent solidity. Made from the finest quartersawn oak, the table will patinate beautifully over the years. A range of finishes are available, so the tables can be supplied in different hues from light to dark to create different visual statements.Jasper Morrison designed the Taro table to better utilise the valuable prime-grade quartersawn oak used in the production of Fredericia pieces such as the Spanish Chair. The timber used at our factory often comes from trees which were more than 150 years old when felled, and in designing Taro, reducing wastage was a key priority. The reference to traditional plank tables has allowed the use of narrower staves for the table top without compromising the visual coherence and quality of the surface.With Taro, Jasper Morrison is paying homage to Børge Mogensen’s iconic table designs.
